Camping In

The girls begged Daddy to camp out with them last night. The agreed-upon compromise was to camp in instead. They set up a "tent" using blankets and chairs, watched a movie, and slept in the tent most of the night.

As soon as the tent was erected, I snuck off to take a hot bath and then went to bed with Brenna. Am I bad mom? Who cares?! I slept for almost a thousand hours, pretty much. I had the best night of sleep and actually woke up in a good mood.

Since the girls didn't get to roast marshmallows or make smores last night, I made them marshmallow treats for breakfast. This is the way people do it in Alabama: Place Saltines or Ritz crackers on a cookie sheet, smother them with peanut butter until they can no longer breathe, and place a big fat puffy marshmallow on top. Bake them until the 'mallows are golden, and eat promptly.

The girls did not eat their treats promptly, so the marshmallows got hard and crunchy. After a sugary breakfast, they moved on to cantaloupe and Popsicles and headed outside to play in the water.

So now it's time to shower and get on with the day. I hope your day is as fabulous as ours.
